DNA Extraction

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Hi, my name is Marco Grimaldi and I'm in my last year of high school at an economic institute in Naples. Since my early years I have studied scientific subjects with very good professors who made me adore scientific subjects. Unfortunately, in the second year, given my projected studies, these subjects were no longer part of my path and I was no longer able to continue except asynchronously. With perseverance and tenacity I have explored every single topic because where passion and the desire to learn reside we also find our dreams. Thinking about the tomorrow is really something very profound for me, thinking that one day I can be called a doctor especially dentist already idolizes me. These are tough years but also the most beautiful ones. I have had the opportunity to interface with many areas of culture, also having Erasmus experiences and getting to know environments that were previously foreign to me. As Jean Jacques Rousseau said: "there is a book that is always open to everyone. Nature." today I wanted to report to GV a small experiment on the extraction of DNA from a banana using the scientific method, here are the steps I followed:

1. Start by mashing the banana in a bowl until it becomes a puree. 2. Add a small amount of water and mix the mashed banana well. 3. Add the dish soap to the mixture and mix gently. This step serves to break the cell membranes and release the DNA. 4. Strain the mixture through cheesecloth or a strainer to separate the solids. 5. Add pure alcohol to the cornstarch and mix. Gently pour the alcohol over the banana solution. 6.Wait a few minutes to allow the DNA to precipitate in the alcohol. 7. At this point, you will notice clear threads forming in the liquid. These strands represent the extracted DNA.

8. With the help of a wooden stick or a teaspoon, you can collect the DNA and observe it closely.
