Summary[edit]

Description
English: The marker says:

Built in the 1800s during the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines, with stones, sea corals and lime, originally intended as a school building for the children of Illustrados or wealthy Spanish conquistadores or the few educated class. Filipino natives or malignly called Indios were denied access.

During the American colonization from 1898 to 1946, Escuela Pia acquired an American name, that is Stone Building. It served as classrooms to school children of families from all walks of life in the central district of the town, until it was contemned.
