Description
Español: La figura principal del escudo es un castillo. "El castillo es almacenado [sic: debe decir almenado], donjonado con tres torres, la del medio mayor, cuyo todo es mazonado por corresponder a la naturaleza del castillo ". El castillo está acompañado de tres veneras de oro. "Las tres veneras responden al nombre del santo de la ciudad, San Santiago, y a las tres ciudades existentes en el Tucumán de la conquista hasta 1577: San Miguel de Tucumán (1565), Esteco o Talavera (1567) y Córdoba de la Nueva Andalucía (1573)".

"El río que tiene el Escudo corresponde al río Dulce que baña en su parte oriental a la ciudad de Santiago del Estero".

"El campo del escudo es de color rojo que significa valor, atrevimiento, intrepidez. El Castillo color oro que denota: riqueza, fuerza, fe, constancia. Las puertas y ventanas (cerradas) color azul que simboliza nobleza, también el río es azul que refleja el cielo.
