Notes gold braid shoulder straps- Part of uniform worn by Colonel George WS Patterson probably when serving as Coast Defence Commander or Officer Commanding Garrison Artillery in period before WW1. During WW1 served in Samoa as Administrator and subsequently as Commanding Officer of the Auckland Military District. He died in January 1919, a victim of the influenza epidemic.
