Nikolaus Lenau an seinen Schwager Karl Schurz am 19. Mai 1832: „Meine Waldkapelle hat sie auch gemalt in zwei Bildern. Das eine stellt die Mondnacht mit dem Narren, das andere den schönen Sommerabend mit dem noch gescheiten Liebhaber vor. Herrliche Bilder! Eine Kopie hat mir meine liebe Freundin mit Wasserfarben gemacht und mitgegeben.“
