| Description |
Deutsch: Ein Elektrodenkessel, kurz E-Kessel, kann verschiedene Zwecke erfüllen. Zum einen entnimmt er dem Stromnetz überschüssige Energie, wenn gerade – beispielsweise bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und starkem Wind – mehr Energie aus erneuerbaren Quellen erzeugt als verbraucht wird. Damit wird die Stabilität des Stromnetzes sichergestellt. Zum anderen kann ein E-Kessel einspringen, wenn zwar Wärme benötigt wird, aber nicht genug, dass es die Anfahrt eines Kraftwerks lohnen würde.
English: An electrode boiler can serve various purposes. On the one hand, it draws surplus energy from the power grid when - for example, in bright sunshine and strong winds - more energy is generated from renewable sources than is consumed. This ensures the stability of the power grid. On the other hand, an electric boiler can step in if heat is needed, but not enough to make it worthwhile to start up a power plant. |
