ith the value of suchmeetings from the human standpoint, which in itselfwould justify the time and expense involved in gettingtogether. For the benefit of the technical development of electricrailway work it is necessary that the responsible engi-neers be furnished ample opportunity to meet at thesecommittee sessions and at the conventions of the En-gineering Association, otherwise they are apt to be pro-vincial and academic. The large attendance at commit-tee meetings shows that this truism is appreciated. The helpful personal relationswhich are established thusare maintained betweenthem by correspondence,chance or planned visits,the reading of personalitems in the electric rail-way press, etc. Therehas thus been built upin the electric railway in-dustry a national, althoughinformal, engineering fra-ternity, membership inwhich should be highlyprized. Every such oppor-tunity should be embracedto foster the spirit ofbrotherhood that the elec-tric railway engineer isprivileged to enjoy.
