Description	Español: En 1917 fue enviado como parte de una misión norteamericana de observación a Francia. Su trabajo era de catalogar y clasificar los diversos métodos para la construcción de puentes y caminos de emergencia durante la guerra. Sin embargo al entrar Estados Unidos en el conflicto, se vio inmerso en circunstancias peligrosas, las cuales las detalló en cartas y postales, enviadas a su familia desde el sitio de la conflagración bélica que envolvió al mundo de ese entonces.
