Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Education 2.0 Research and Documentation Project was established in 2019 to document the first five years of an historic education reform in Egypt known as "Education 2.0." The objective of the project was threefold: to strengthen the capacity of an emerging generation of educational researchers through workshops, research training and practice; generate policy-relevant research; and provide primary source resources for students, researchers, and stakeholders working in the education sector. The funding for the project came from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) via the British Embassy in Cairo’s Education Department, and was housed at the Social Research Center of The American University in Cairo. The project was under the direction of Professor Linda Herrera of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Herrera established the project’s YouTube channel in 2020, and the project's website in 2023 with resources including textbooks, policy documents, oral history video highlights, and photo galleries. While the project formally closed the end of 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the documentation, research, and training activities continued on a mainly volunteer basis until 2023.
