Young Eddie Schneider Takes Off From Los Angeles In Attempt To Make Record. Lob Angeles, California; August 21, 1930 (Associated Press) Eddie Schneider, newly crowned east-west junior transcontinental speed king, took off at 6:17:30 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) today for Albuquerque, New Mexico, in an effort to establish a new west-east junior transcontinental air record. Schneider recently covered the distance from Westfield, New Jersey, to Los Angeles in 28 hours, 55 minutes flying time, bettering the record of 34 hours, 3 minutes set last spring by the late Frank Goldsborough. He hopes to reach the east coast in less time than the record of 28 hours, 18 minutes, also set by Goldsborough. Despite a load of 140 gallons of gasoline, Schneider pulled his little monoplane into a fast climb and quickly was out of sight.

Public domain
This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. For further explanation, see Commons:Hirtle chart and the copyright renewal logs. Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (70 years p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 years p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 years p.m.a.), Mexico (100 years p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 years p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.

Works copyrighted before 1964 had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed, the work is in the public domain. No renewal notice was found for this periodical for issues published in this year. For instance, the first New York Times issue renewed was from April 1, 1928. Some publications may have renewed an individual article from an earlier time, for instance the New York Times renewed at least one article published on January 9, 1927. If you find any contrary evidence, or the renewal database has been updated, please notify me. No renewal notices have been found for articles supplied by the Associated Press to subscribing newspapers.
