Summary[edit]

Description This was one of a number of rest homes run by the Methodist Church throughout the country. As it was run by the Methodists it was a teetotal and gambling free establishment. The premises were acquired in 1901 after a previous rest home was demolished to make way for an extension to Victoria Station in Buckingham Palace Road. The foundation stone of the extension to Eccleston Street was laid by the Duke of Connaught, the third son of Queen Victoria and a career soldier. I think that the building is now a Post Office but I cannot be sure because Streetview bugs out along that part of Eccleston Street. If anyone has further information about the rest home please feel free.
