Summary[edit]

Description
English: Just west of North Branch lies the largest savanna soil complex -- over 1,300 acres -- in Isanti County Minnesota. These soils were formed when glacial Lake Anoka sunk to the Lake Hugo level, 10,000 - 12,000 years ago. What sets these soils apart from the others on the Anoka sandplain is that they are fertile and support prairie grasses. Some remnants exist and could be restored....for a profit!
