Summary[edit]

Description

This telephone office building was situated approximately where the current Liquor Store is located in Northbrook.

James Vogan operated the telephone service and later sold it to Ellery Thompson in the late 1950s. Later the office was moved to Peterson Road where Isobel Wood currently has her bake shop. The office operated until dial telephones came into use in the early 1970s.

Apparently there was sleeping quarters in this building so an operator could spend the night to tend to the phones (all party lines at the time).

Notice the cemetery across the street and how few gravestones exist at this time.
