Title
Early Medieval or medieval copper alloy mount
Description
English: A decorated piece of copper-alloy that perhaps was originally mounted on the side of a vessel or box. The object is trapezoid in plan, convex and appears to have original edges. The front has a deep green patina and is decorated with an incised motif of a Wyvern advancing right. The wyvern has the head of dragon; it has two large pointed ears and triangular eye, and an open mouth. It has a rounded back, spotted body and a reptilian tail; its right leg is flat on the floor while its left is forward facing.

This item is broadly similar to the wyvern depicted on a similar shaped mount found at Norton Disney, Lincolnshire, recorded as LIN-BD83E1.
