Summary[edit]

Description

English: M16 also known as NGC 6611 or Eagle Nebula is located in the constellation

Serpent, at a distance of 7000 light years from us, was discovered in 1745 by Charles Messier. M16 is an emission nebula consisting of ionized hydrogen, in it there is a young open cluster of stars with an age ranging between 2 and 3 million years, composed of numerous very blue supergiants warm and bright. The nebula is famous for hosting gigantic columns of dark gas known as the "Pillars of Creation", created by the action of the stellar wind of giant stars

of the central open cluster.
