ESS-508E66 Medieval harness pendant
Description
English: Medieval (1200-1400AD) cast copper alloy heraldic pendant. The pendant is shield shaped, with a broken suspension loop at its apex. The design on the upper surface is difficult to decipher due to wear, it is possibly an animal. There is no trace of enamel or gilding surviving. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The pendant has a dark brown patina, with patches of light to mid green copper corrosion. The pendant is 21.1mm long including the suspension loop, 17.1mm long excluding the suspension loop. It is 13.6mm wide, 1.7mm thick and weighs 1.27 grams.
