Title |
ESS-4DBAE8 Medieval Harness Pendant |
||
Description |
English: Medieval (1200-1400AD) cast copper alloy heraldic pendant. The pendant is shield shaped, with a broken suspension loop at its apex. The design on the upper surface is difficult to decipher - it is comprised of eight raised horizontal lines, with another feature over the top of the upper three lines, and possibly a six petalled flower or star over the lower four lines. There is no trace of enamel or gilding surviving. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The pendnat has a dark brown patina, with patches of light to mid green copper corrosion. The pendant is 39.5mm long inclusing the suspension loop, 31.6mm long exclusing the suspension loop. It is 26mm wide, 2.9mm thick and weighs 12.26 grams. |
