עברית: אפקט זימאן האלקטרוני. בהיעדר שדה מגנטי, מצבי הספין α ו-β מנוונים אנרגטית. בנוכחות שדה מגנטי, האנרגיה של כל מצב ספין תלויה במספר הספין שלו: זו של מצב α עולה וזו של מצב β יורדת. פער האנרגיה בין הרמות פרופורציונאלי לגודל השדה.
