DescriptionEMI studio mixer (1940s), Abbey Road Studios.jpg |
This is one of the world's oldest surviving recording mixers. It was built for Abbey Road Studios (then called EMI Studios, London) in the 1940s. It has several inputs on the left side, where the volume of each microphone can be set or adjusted. On the right-hand side, a second setup of the microphones can be pre-set, and the operating engineer can fade from one setup to the other using the center control. Unlike later studio mixers, it has no tone controls and only a mono output (some controls and knobs have long been removed).
