Summary

Description

Christ Church Cathedral, High Street, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland

English: Floor tiles in the Lady Chapel which have been produced by Craven Dunnill of Jackfield, Ironbridge, according to designs by the architect George Edmund Street which, in this case, were close but not exactly following the design of medieval tiles which were recovered from the nave. The closest Irish medieval four-tile designs with lion faces are T58 to T60 according to Eames and Fanning. (See p. 369 in Roger Stalley: George Edmund Street and the Restoration in Christ Church Cathedral: A History, ISBN 1-85182-487-1. And p. 24 in Elizabeth S. Eames and Thomas Fanning: Irish medieval tiles, ISBN 0-901714-62-3)
