English: Women's dress, comprising skirt, bodice, jacket, undershirt, with necklace and curl hairpiece .1 Jacket, round neck, drop shoulder, front-fastening with curved yoke finished with velvet edged fringe. Full length 2 panel sleeve fits into narrow wrist with velvet ribbon decorationand cream chemical lace trim. 11 crochet covered buttons, buttonholes and 2 brass hooks and eyes fasten the front opening. Lined with fine cream polished calico, 6 metal bones bound with cream silk, ends reinforced with crossed stitch ribbon. Boned seam edges bound with cream silk. Curved seams in back panel overlocked with crossed stitch. Garment mostly handstitched but has a few machined seams. .2 Bodice, Back fastening, wide scooped neck. Drop shoulder supports short puffed sleeve with satin piping at upper edge and velvet-bound lower edge , which is trimmed with machine made woven lace( in poor condition). Neck edge has panel of green 5 pleat chiffon with basket-weave decorative effect created by narrow velvet ribbon. Lower edge of band finished with frill of scallop-edge, handmade, cream cotton, woven lace (Bedfordshire). Centre-front panels form long pointed stomacher. Centre -back fastening 12 pairs parallel eyelets. 4 metal bones ( with 5 silk casings) have lower edge finished with fine ribbon cross stitch.Seam edges bound with cream silk. .3 Skirt, 7 panel skirt. Flat front with small handkerchief pocket right side front panel. Back- fastening with remnants of 2 pairs brass hooks and eyes. Fullness in back panels created by tucks and cartridge plleating. Front panel hem edged with woven tape and lined with silk. .4 Panier- bustle drape. Saddleshaped self-fabric drape on waistband to be worn at back to form bustle. Top fullness tucked into bandand emphasised by jaunty peplum. Outer edges bound with velvetand finished with fringe. 3 self-fabric bows ornament front of waistband and centre back. Belt front fastening with 2 pairs brass hooks and eyes. Lined with cream gauze. .5 Underskirt, white cotton handstitched full underskirt. Front gathered onto shallow V-shaped band.Back has tucks to draw in fullness, with drawing thread for adjustment. Broad bands of self fabric grosgrain add weight to skirt. Upper back panel fully grosgrain. Hem edge finished with handmade broderie anglais ewith scalloped edge. launary mark initials A.(J).59 handwritten in ink inside waistband. .6 Ivorine pendant with piecework floral motifand green silken twisted cord. .7 Enclosed in box is a pair of brunette human hair ringlets, with hair clip attachments. .8 Small plastic and metal hair grip. .9 Cream card box with maker's stamp H.R.London and Sons has handwritten in ink 7" C Curls K-U. Handwritten on lid "Curls"
