English: Dress, "c.1908. Made in Italy for donor's mother. Natural coloured shantung hand-embroidered with white silk thread. Two piece - long sleeved blouse with high neck and pin tucks. Pinafore type dress with full skirt heavily embroidered round hem" Womans outfit comprising a tea coloured tussah silk pinafore style dress with matching blouse, decorated with floss silk floral embroidery “LIGHT BROWN SHANTUNG DRESS two piece. Bodice high necked back fastening – pintucked bodice – plain long sleeves with buttoned cuffs – all mounted on a short cotton under bodice. Pinafore over with wide round neck – decorated front panel. Back fastening gathered skirt at waist full skirt to ankle. Italian dress with silk hand embroidery.”
