Gannas. This distinct race of Cannas was offered last year for the first time, and has given general satisfaction with the exception of being thinner and having less substance than the French varieties ; do not last so long \/ in hot, dry weather ; but this objec- tion is not serious, as they are so ex- tremely free-flowering that they are continually in bloom. The individual fl )wers are very large, rarely measuring I jss than six inches across, while the c iloring is superb, and the name Orchid- fl 'wered is very appropriate. Italia and Austria. Having a large stock of the above two fine varieties, we are in a position to offer strong dor- mant eyes at $5.00 per 100. Miscellaneous Orchid=Flowered Cannas. We have a limited stock of the following varieties introduced last Spring, and offer same as long as unsold, at 35 cents each ; $:i.50 per dozen. Bavaria. Etlouard Aiulre. Kronos. Perseus. Boriissia. Heinrich Seitlel. Oceanus. Pluto. Burgundia. Iberia. Partenope. Suevia. Wilhelm Beck. The "Cream" of M. Crozy's 1897 Introductions. We take great pleasure in offering these six superb sorts, which are without exception the very best in their respective colors and type up to date, and we feel certain that purchasers of this set will be fully satisfied with the selection We have given these varieties two .seasons' trial under field culture, where they received the most ordinary treatment, and under all conditions of weather they held their own with the host of so-called novelties. Baronne de Poilly. A most prolific flowerer, with large rounded petals which open out very full, making a perfectly round flower of excellent form ; of a rich orange- salmon color ; foliage light green ; habit compact; 3^ feet. Hortense Barbereau. Remarkably fine, large, cherry- red trusses of immense size ; a decided improvement on all others of this type ; excellent for massing ; habit compact and strong ; foliage rich dark green ; 3^ feet. Mile. Berat. A decided acquisition on account of its color, which is the nearest approach to a pink in a first- class bedder. Many of the sorts heretolbre offered as pink, while very pretty in the individual flower, have a "washed-out" appearance both on the single plant or when planted in masses. In this variety, however, the larger the mass the finer the effect, and when planted with yellows and high-colored reds it is simply superb ; lieight 4 feet. Mine D'Or. This is practically a yellow Mme. Crozy, which it resembles in size and shape of flower. It is of bright canary-yellow, the lower petals very lightly marked with red. Like all other yellows it has the fault of bleaching under certain conditions of the weather, but it is the best of this type of flower ; height 3 ft. 50 cts. each ; $5.00 per doz. Leon Pepin Lelialleur. A grand variety of brilliant carmine-red that at once attracts attention. It is effective in every position ; flowers extra large and round, with strong, heavy petals of fine substance ; a strong grower of Kood habit; 4 feet. Vice-President L/uizet. An excellent variety and especially effective for massing. It is of a rich cherry-red, with carmine reflex. The flowers are produced in very large, compact spikes ; foliage green ; 3 feet. Price of any the above Six Superb Sorts 30 cts. each, $3.00 per doz., $20.00 per 100 (except where noted), or one each of the six varieties for $1.50. The best DARK-LEAVED CANNA, Bassett's Red. This is without doubt the finest of all the dark foliaged varieties, and where foliage cfffcf is wanted or in connection with the French varieties it is a perfect gem ; it has small flower.s like all the Indica type to which it belonirs, but its foliage is suju'Tb, being of the most intense bronzy red ; in growth it is strong and stately, growing very uniformly to a height of five feet. 75 cts. per doz ; $5.00 per 100.
