Português: Dr. Juvenal da Silva Carvalho na cerimónia de lançamento da primeira pedra do bairro social da Ajuda. (1900-1973 c.) Juvenal António da Silva Carvalho (1900-1973 c.). Advogado e político, licenciou-se em Direito na Universidade de Lisboa e, regressado ao Funchal, onde abriu banca de advogado e se revelou um orador de grandes recursos, vindo a ser um grande defensor da política do Estado Novo, sendo presidente da Câmara Municipal do Funchal e governador substituo durante alguns anos. Em 1939, entretanto, fixou residência na cidade da Beira, em Moçambique, onde foi inspetor superior do Ministério do Ultramar e prestou serviço na Junta dos Cereais e do Algodão. Regressaria ao continente ao atingir o limite de idade, fixando-se em Lisboa, onde faleceu. |
