Description

Can be used to replace “dot” characters (alias “period”, or “full stop”, U+002E) in domain name parts of email addresses.

With a surrounding gray border added, we get

  • . with a plain text full stop character, vs.
  • with this image.

Size this image in pixels with the same size as fonts. The suggested height for inclusion in unformatted paragraphs using the default fonts of MediaWiki is "x13px" when the default font size is 13 pixels:
[[File:Dot.svg|x13px| “dot” |link=]]. (The metrics of the graphics is correct for the default proportional sans-serif fonts). This glyph also uses the default black color.

For such use (which is to protect email addresses against abusive bots indexing the plain texts of wikis to collect email addresses in order to use them for spamming, you should avoid generating links. The wiki code above will still be readable in plain text when images are not disabled by the browser, but only the alternative plain text. The suggested alternative plain text can also be copy-pasted in a plain-text document.
