Summary[edit]
DescriptionDornie fundamental bench mark - geograph.org.uk - 1343171.jpg |
English: Dornie fundamental bench mark One of around 200 fundamental bench marks in Great Britain that record height above AMSL (Newlyn Datum) with great accuracy. This one is at a height of 53.7770m. The 'business end' of the thing is a bolt set in the bedrock in an underground chamber below the granite pillar seen here. The original Ordnance Survey Bench Mark plaque has above it a more modern plate, dated July 1999, which describes its function and importance. |
