Manuel Torres Serranía — nació en Morelia, Michoacán, México. el 15 de Febrero de 1916; y falleció el 1 de Mayo de 1971.

• Sus padres fueron Manuel Torres y Laura Serranía, se caso en 1943 con Consuelo Díaz Méndez (finada 1916-2008) oriunda de Zamora, Michoacán, procrearon 8 hijos: Manuel, Jaime, Consuelo, Ricardo, Martha, María Luisa y Guillermina.

• Manuel Torres Serranía, estudio en el Seminario Tridentino de Morelia y Contador Privado, ejerciendo su profesión en la Comisión Federal de Electricidad como Pagador General con cede en Toluca, Estado de México, y en una institución bancaria de su tiempo.
• Primer Presidente Municipal del Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) en México, en Quiroga, Michoacán electo en 1946, y su gobierno lo inicia el 1 de Enero de 1947 y termina el 31 de Diciembre de 1948, Presidente del Comité Estatal del Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) en Michoacán en 1964.
• Dada su grán pasión por la antropología y la arqueología fue nombrado "Doctor Honris Causa" por la Universidad de Genova, Italia, un estudioso de las culturas precolombinas, especialmente la cultura "Purépecha".
• Pudo montar un museo privado con las piezas que logró reunir. Su colección de piezas arqueológicas de la región llegó a sumar más de 5,000. Parte de esta colección está en exhibición en el Museo del Estado, ubicado frente al tradicional Jardín de las Rosas de la Ciudad de Morelia.
• Torres Serranía también fue un gran hispanista. Defensor de Don Vasco de Quiroga, Primer Obispo de Michoacán y protector de los naturales (indígenas) del estado.
