Description The following is the author's description of the photograph quoted directly from the photograph's Flickr page.
"White crystals of saddle dolomite (calcium-magnesium carbonate) on black balls of sphalerite (zinc sulphide). 2 inch long specimen is from the now closed Pine Point lead-zinc mine, Northwest Territories, Canada.

ID tip # Dolomite (the name for both mineral and rock) is calcite = limestone, altered due to presence of magnesium-bearing waters. It will only weakly fizz on a scratch or powder form with 10% HCl (hydrochloric acid, also called muriatic acid). "
