English: The Sipaliwini district is located in the north between 2.00° and 5.51° N and in the west between 54.00° and 58.00° W. Sipaliwini is located in the south of Suriname and is located in the north
Bordered by the districts of Brokopondo, Coronie, Marowijne, Nickerie and Para, it borders French Guiana to the east, Brazil to the south and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to the west. Sipaliwini covers almost 80% of the total area of Suriname and is completely covered with tropical rainforest. The large areas in this district are still fallow and uninhabited. In the inhabited areas, the communities often live in a traditional tribal context. Sipaliwini has a total area of 130,566 km2 and is divided into 5 administrative districts: Paramacca, Tapanahony, Upper Suriname, Upper Saramacca, Upper Coppename, Kabalebo, Coeroeni. Sipaliwini beslaat bijkans 80% van de totale oppervlakte van grondgebied Suriname en is volledig Bedekt met het tropisch regenwoud. De grote gebieden in dit district zijn nog braak en onbewoond. In de bewoonde gebieden leven de gemeenschappen veelal in traditioneel tribaal verband.
