foliose lichen, on bright exposed dogwood bark along canal (Piscidia piscipula) THALLUS: light greenish gray, not spotted, lobes confluent w/ fan-shaped tips, flat to v subtly convex and wrinkled, closely appressed, to 1.5 mm wide, black and smooth below (no rhizines), no soredia MEDULLA: white APOTHECIA: abundant, 0.8 mm wide, lecanorine, black w/ striking purple pruina, raised smooth whitened rim
