| Description |
English: Dilapidated plate layer's hut. This dilapidated hut has survived on the site of the former Tivetshall railway station > 1572341 and the muddy track seen in the foreground is part of the dismantled Waveney Valley Line. Tivetshall was a railway station on the Great Eastern Main Line as well as the western terminus of the Waveney Valley Line from Beccles > 1572337. It was first opened in 1849. The Waveney Valley Line was opened in 1885. Tivetshall station was closed in 1966. Nothing remains of the Waveney Valley Line. The since electrified track of the former Great Eastern Main Line is presently operated by National Express East Anglia, running trains from Norwich to London Liverpool Street. A section of the track is currently being rebuilt and heavy machinery can be seen parked here. The site was accessed by kind permission of authorised staff. |
