Information:

• m — Original message intended for transmission.
• m` — Message that arrives on the receiving end.
• K — The key used to insert digital watermark.
• x — The information in the digital watermark.
• H — Potential hidden information stored in the received message (must be combined with a known K).

Data:

• s1 — data after attack.
• s2 — data after counter-attack.
• r — received data.

Actions:

• Attack — an act of placing some information into the file by the software on the user's machine.
• Counter-Attack — any act by the creating software to destroy the watermark.
• Clean — any act by the transmission software prior to sending the data to the cloud which tries to neutralise the watermark.

The goal is to maximise Δ_catt and Δ_cln without distorting m. K and x are not known to the user.
