Wie so viele andere, sitzt auch Jürgen Handke während der Corona-Krise im Home Office. Der Spezialist für die Digitalisierung der Lehre macht sich dort intensiv Gedanken darüber, wie Hochschulen mit ihrer Lehre jetzt schnell auf den coronabedingten Lockdown reagieren können. Für unser MERTON-Magazin hat er dazu adhoc ein Video produziert: Damit aus dem drohenden „Nicht-Semester“ ab April 2020 doch noch ein „Kreativ-Semester" werden kann.

Jürgen Handke, Anglist an der Universität Marburg, hat mehrere Bücher im Bereich Sprachwissenschaft, Sprachtechnologie sowie eEducation verfasst und bemüht sich seit Jahren um die Nutzung digitaler Lehr-, Lern- und Prüfungsszenarien in der Hochschullehre. Die Hochschulrektorenkonferenz und der Stifterverband verliehen ihm 2015 den „Ars legendi-Preis für exzellente Hochschullehre“. Handke ist Betreiber des Virtual Linguistics Campus, der weltweit größten Lernplattform für Inhalte der englischen und allgemeinen Sprachwissenschaft. Sein YouTube-Kanal @The Virtual Linguistics Campus enthält mehrere hundert frei zugängliche selbstproduzierte Lehrvideos und ist der größte seiner Art. Seit 2006 hat er seine Lehre sukzessive vollständig digitalisiert und die entsprechenden Formate curricular verankert.
