For a sentimental reason, namely-, the preservation of an old historicthoroughfare, and for a practical one as well, much stress has been laidupon the necessity- of widening and developing this road. Such a road,laid out as a boulevard, would be a natural line of travel to Coney Islandfrom Long Island and Queens as well as from Upper New York. It wouldconnect the existing Eastern Parkway with Bay Parkway and the ShoreDrive. It would bring a most desirable variation into the street systemof large area at present without park, plajground or boulevard of anycharacter.
