Deutsch: Vorderseite: Afrikanischer Elefant nach rechts vor dem Kilimandscharo. Im Abschnitt Jahreszahl und Münzzeichen T (Tabora).

Rückseite: DEUTSCH OSTAFRIKA / 15 RUPIEN. Reichsadler. Kommentar: Die Prägung dieser Goldmünzen (Taborapounds) wurde durch den Gouverneur des Deutschen Schutzgebietes Ostafrika (heute Tansania) veranlasst, um einerseits den mit Beginn des Weltkrieges eingetretenen Geldmangel zur Fortzahlung von Löhnen und Gehältern zu beheben und andererseits die nicht mehr nach Deutschland zu verbringende Ausbeute des Goldbergwerks von Senkenke zu verwerten. Der Münzwert von 15 Rupien entsprach 20 Mark. Die Münzstätte wurde in den Werkstätten der Eisenbahngesellschaft in Tabora eingerichtet (auf der Münze mit T bezeichnet) und insgesamt 16.198 Goldstücke geprägt. Die Stempel schnitt ein singhalesischer Goldarbeiter.
