Deutsch: Vorderseite: D - O / 1 / HELLER [Deutsch-Ostafrika]. Zwischen den Buchstaben D und O die bebänderte Kaiserkrone, darunter Wertangabe in zwei Zeilen und unten Münzzeichen A für Berlin.

Rückseite: 1916. Jahr der Probeprägung.

Kommentar: Das Gebiet des heutigen Tansania war 1891 durch die deutsche Regierung zum Schutzgebiet erklärt worden. Bei diesem Heller von 1916 handelt sich um eine bisher unpublizierte Probeprägung.
