Determination of manganese in pyrolusite

Summary[edit]

Description
English: To determine the manganese content in a pyrolusite sample, exactly around 0.436 g are placed in a small round bottom flask B connected by a pipe C to a test tube E filled with a known solution of potassium iodide. After a few minutes the flow of chlorine stops, and the solution is titrated with sodium thiosulphate and starch.
