The application of this arrangement to transform-ers is illustrated in the accompanying Figures - and 3«The primaries of two transformers are connected to a gen-erator giving two phase current. The secondary E.M.Fstherefore differ by 90 degrees. One secondary is made eq-ual tolOO turns and a loop is b-ought out giving ^0 turnsat each side. The second secondary has 87 turns, whichis approximately equal to 50 mul tiplied by the squareroot of three. One end of this secondary is connected tothe middle point of the secondary of the first transfor-mer as shown, and these three free terminals will thendeliver E.M.Fs differing in phase by 120 degrees.
