Summary[edit]

Description

Tufted hairgrass (Deschampsia cespitosa), Grass family (Poaceae). Shores of the Upper Bell Reservoir, Bells Canyon, Utah.

Comparison of two different forms growing side by side. One is light green, without a purple tinge and with more open pendulous inflorescence; another is darker due to the purple tinge, with more compact inflorescence. The glumes and florets differ also in size. The second glume is 4 mm in the green form and 3 mm in the purple form.
