Summary[edit]

Description
English: Deer Jump This stone structure on the old boundary fence between Glen Tanar and the Forest of Birse is believed to be a deer jump dating from the 19th century when the owner of Glen Tanar, Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, wanted to maintain high deer numbers on his land. The gently sloping ramp on the eastern side allowed deer from Birse to jump over the fence into Glen Tanar, while the vertical stone face on the other side prevented deer from moving the other way.
