Von Leonie Mangers-Penning überlieferte Geschichte: Ihr Bruder Nic Penning aus Wahl, Luxemburg, war 1914 in Nancy als Fahrer in den Dienst eines Arztes eingetreten. In den ersten Tagen des Krieges begaben sich beide zur Front, sie gerieten unter Beschuss und wurden dabei tödlich verletzt. Nic Penning wurde im Familiengrab des Arztes in Nancy beigesetzt. Die Postkarte zeigt Nic Penning neben seinem Dienstwagen De Dion Boutton.
