Summary[edit]
DescriptionDeNaald.jpg |
English: Monument 'De Naald' in Heemstede, at the corner of the Manpadslaan and Herenweg in Heemstede, commemorating two battles that (supposedly) took place at this site in 1104 and again at 1573. Monument was erected in 1817 when the owner David Jacob van Lennep of 'Huis te Manpad' was in the Haarlem council. The monument is located on the corner of property belonging to 'Huis te Manpad'. The son of David, poet Jacob van Lennep, was present when the monument was placed and later wrote a poem about it.
