English: This 1996 ceremony was in honor of former Centers for Disease Control Directors, and took place at the CDC's 40th anniversary, July 1, 1996. Standing from left to right was former CDC Director, Dr. James O. Mason (1983–1989); former CDC Deputy Director, Dr. Walter Dowdle; Dr. William Watson; former CDC Director, Dr. David Satcher (1993–1998); former CDC Director, Dr. William Roper (1990–1993); former CDC Director, Dr. William Foege (1977–1983); and former CDC Director, Dr. David Sencer (1966–1977).
