Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Dargan Road, Belfast Running from the M2/M5 motorways, Dargan Road is the main access point for the ferry and freight services in the north-western part of Belfast docks. This is a section near the end of the road which ends in a cul-de-sac. It is used almost exclusively by freight lorries loading and unloading at the docks, many of which park up along the road. You should just be able to see a ship loading containers on the left. The road is named after William Dargan, a prominent Irish contractor responsible for the excavation of two major cuts in the river Lagan in 1839-41 and 1847-49, thus creating what became the Victoria Channel, opened in 1849 when the queen visited Belfast.
