Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Daniel H. Williamson House, 340 Gold Street, Buffalo, New York, May 2021. Built in 1895, this two-and-a-half-story wood-frame Queen Anne is a good example of the typical housing stock of the Lovejoy section of the city. Classical detailing comes in the form of the posts that support the shed roof of the front porch, fashioned into Doric pilasters, but otherwise the design is quite simple and utilitarian, in keeping with the industrial-vernacular "Buffalo doubles" that were being hurriedly erected citywide in the era. Daniel Hartman Williamson (1861-1940) was the original owner, a Williamsport, Pennsylvania-born locomotive engineer with the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. He lived in the house with his family until 1914. Subsequent owners include the Milsap family, including son Edward (1917-1975), the photographer's great-uncle by marriage.
