Summary[edit]

Description
English: Files related to Nguyễn Cát Tường's "Lux" rickshaw company from the 1940's in the Tonkinese capital city of Hanoi, French Indo-China.

Nguyễn Cát Tường or Le mur Cát Tường is a famous person, he is mostly associated with the innovative áo dài models in Hanoi in the 1930's. But few people know, Nguyễn Cát Tường was also the owner of a small car rental business under the brand "Lux" in Hanoi. The Lux car company is headquartered at 14 Hàng Da Street - also the address of Mr. Nguyễn Cát Tường's house at that time.

According to the list of owners of handcarts in early Nguyễn Cát Tường was granted a license to circulate 15 handcarts by the municipal government of Hanoi. The list of owners of hand-carts in Hanoi in the records related to the management and regulation of hand-rickshaw activities in previous years did not have Nguyễn Cát Tường's name.

However, according to Mr. Nguyễn Cát Tường's letter on 30 April 1942, because materials to produce handcarts were scarce at that time in Hanoi, he proposed to replace 15 handcarts, he applied for a permit to circulate 15 cyclos in Hanoi. Pictures and drawings of this vehicle are attached to the letter submitted to the Mayor of Hanoi. From 16 June 1942, Mr. Nguyễn Cát Tường moved to 14 Hàng Da Street. All (subsequent) documents related to the 15 cyclos from there will be exchanged at this official address.
