Ancient and famous Dakshinkali temple located in Kathmandu District Dakshinkali Municipality Ward No. 6. This temple is located in a forest and a hillock at the confluence of Purnvati Ganga and Uddharavati Ganga, about 19 km south of Ratnapark, Kathmandu. It is believed that this ancient Kalika temple is called Dakshinkali as it is located in the south of Kathmandu. According to the Tantra tradition, Dakshina Amnayanayaka is Dakshina Kali. The face of this goddess is Chamunda. On the right side of the idol of Dakshinakali Devi, there are idols of Narasimhi, Saptamatrika, Barahi, Bhagwan. According to legend, the origin of this goddess is that Kalika herself said to King Pratap Malla in a dream, "It is good for you to build a temple at this place", so King Pratap Malla built a temple here in the seventeenth century. This east facing temple is very famous from historical and religious point of view. The idol of this goddess in the open sky is made of smooth black stone. The statue of this goddess has been decorated by 11 Nagpashas. Adorned with jewellery, the idol of this goddess looks very attractive. This Shaktipith is one of the important Shaktipiths in the Kathmandu valley and there is a daily crowd of devotees. Saturdays and Tuesdays are very crowded. During the great festival of Nepalese Hindus, Bijayadashami, there is a huge crowd of visitors in this temple. Daily worship of this goddess is done in Vedic and Tantric ways. Among the Shaktipithas in the valley, most sacrifices are made in this Dakshinkali. In this temple, Guthi has also been arranged for Nitya Puja and Maha Puja from Shri 5 Girvan Yuddha Bir Bikram Shah. Still, Shahamvanshiya kings perform special pujas on the day of Baisakh Shukla Purnima every year. This goddess is also considered as the talisman of the Shah dynasty. This place is also famous from a tourist point of view. This place is very beautiful, full of natural resources. On holidays, it is crowded with picnickers. If you go up the hill behind this Dakshinkali Devi statue, there is also a temple of Dakshinkali Mata. Where devotees go to worship.
