Title |
DUR-0E4883 shield shaped harness pendant |
||
Description |
English: A complete copper alloy harness pendant dating to the period c.1250 to 1450 .
The pendant is shield shaped in plan and has decoration on the front in the form of a saltire gules on a field of Or. There is some red enamel present although much is missing as is the case with the gilding. Beneath the gilding there is an inscribed pattern of zig-zags. The pendant is complete and still attached to the suspension mount. The suspension mount is simple in design, a single pellet with a pointed stud on the reverse. This stud points upwards and is likely to have been damaged during the loss of the pendant. Similar examples are recorded on the PAS database, for comparisons see SF-92C8A5 and SWYOR-335568 however these examples are not preserved as well. |
