LE GROTTE ARTIFICIALI DI VILLETTA DINEGRO

Genova è conosciuta per le sue splendide ville cinquecentesche. Pochi però sanno che i giardini delle ville più importanti nascondevano delle grotte artificiali dove venivano rievocati gli incontri mitologici tra dei e ninfe. La più affascinante e meglio conservata è la grotta Doria, costruita nel 1500 dall’architetto Galeazzo Alessi. La grotta ha forma ottagonale e il suo soffitto è interamente ricoperto da conchiglie, coralli, ciottoli colorati e cristalli luccicanti che formano un mosaico di grande pregio.
