Summary[edit]

Description
English: Reactions of copper nitrate (the solution is bright turquoise). From left to right:

Cu(NO3)2 + 2KI -> 2KNO3 + CuI(s) (it's a white solid; here in a yellow iodine solution)

Cu(NO3)2 + (NH4)2S -| (nothing happened; the yellow color is because of the (NH4)2S.)

Cu(NO3)2 + H2S -> CuS(s) + 2HNO3 (black CuS)

Cu(NO3)2 + 2NaOH -> Cu(OH)2(s) + 2NaNO3 (First there's a bright blueish flakey solid ...)
Cu(OH)2 + 2NaOH -> [Na2Cu(OH)4] ( ... but in surplus it complexates and a blue solution remains.)

Cu(NH3)2 + 2NH3 + 2H2O -> Cu(OH)2 + 2NH4+
Cu(OH)2 + 4NH3 -> [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (The complex with ammonia dissolves to a blue liquid, too)

Cu(NO3)2 + Na2CO3 --> CuCO3(s) + 2NaNO3 (This green solid was completely dissolved in a Na2CO3 surplus.)

Cu(NO3)2 + H2S -> CuS(s) + 2HNO3 (schwarzer Niederschlag von CuS)

Cu(NO3)2 + 2NaOH -> Cu(OH)2(s) + 2NaNO3 (Zuerst sieht man einen Niederschlag des blauen Kupferhydroxids ...)
Cu(OH)2 + 2NaOH -> [Na2Cu(OH)4] ( ... aber im Überschuss komplexiert es und ergibt eine blaue Lösung.)

Cu(NH3)2 + 2NH3 + 2H2O -> Cu(OH)2 + 2NH4+
Cu(OH)2 + 4NH3 -> [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (Auch der Ammoniak-Komplex ergibt eine blaue Lösung.)

Cu(NO3)2 + Na2CO3 --> CuCO3(s) + 2NaNO3 (Der grüne Niederschlag löste sich in einem Soda-Überschuss komplett.)

3) Cu(NO3)2 + H2S → CuS(s) + 2HNO3 (colore nero dovuto a CuS)

4a) Cu(NO3)2 + 2NaOH → Cu(OH)2(s) + 2NaNO3

4b) Cu(OH)2 + 2NaOH → [Na2Cu(OH)4] (colore blu)

5a) Cu(NH3)2 + 2NH3 + 2H2O → Cu(OH)2 + 2NH4+

5b) Cu(OH)2 + 4NH3 → [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (colore blu)

6) Cu(NO3)2 + Na2CO3 → CuCO3(s) + 2NaNO3 (solido verde disciolto in Na2CO3 in eccesso)
